It is common fact that wherever Gauda Saraswath Brahmin are large in numbers, there will be Sri Venkataramana Temple. The Venkataramana Temple of Kaup has got the same importance as that of Sri Hale Mariamma Temple.

One of the God which is being worshipped is Lord Hayagreeva. It is the most old statue among other three which is being worshipped. According to famous Archaeologist Late P.Gururaj Bhat, the statue belongs to 15th century. In 1780 the statue of Lord Sri Venkataramana along with Goddess Sridevi and Bhoodevi was installed. Another statue is of Lord Varadaraja Venkataramana which is known as "Utsava Murthi", which is being carried out during any utsavs.

Initially about 2-3 centuries back, Lord Hayagreeva was the family deity of Smt. & Sri Panduranga Bhat. Since they had no children, after their expiry the temple was built and the work of doing Pooja was given to Sri Appanna Bhat.
Because the number of devotees increased day by day , they could not maintain the temple properly, So they dedicated the temple management to the GSB society. In this way the family deity becomes the deity of whole GSB samaj.

In 1876 the statue of Lord Mukhyaprana was installed in Sri Venkataramana Temple. Prior to that the statue was in Majur Sri Venkatesh Bhat's house. He donated land to temple to overcome the puja expenses.

Because of Dedication and Devotion of the community , the temple was developed anything. In 1936 H.H. Sri Sukratheendra Swamiji of Kashi Mutt reinstalled the statues. In 1982 with help of devotees , the Marriage hall was built and was inaugurated by H.H. Srimad Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji of Kashi Mutt.

In 1996 , the 60th anniversary of temple was celebrated. Swamijees of All the 3 mutts had their camp in the temple. During their camp different programs were held such as "Laksha Tulsi Archane"- offering Lakh Tulsi to Sri Venkataramana , "Laksha Hoovina Pooje" - offering Lakh Flower to Sri Venkataramana.
